Magnetic Island is eight kilometres east from the city of Townsville. It is accessible by either the 'Sunferries' passenger ferry service taking only 25 minutes, or if doing a driving holiday travel via the 'Passenger and Car Ferry' which takes 45 minutes.

When arriving at the Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal on Magnetic Island, board the Magnetic Island Bus Service for the seven kilometre scenic drive to Horseshoe Bay, and then stroll 150 metres to Sails on Horseshoe. Alternatively, for a little extra, taxis are available at the Ferry Terminal to provide door to door service.

Sails on Horseshoe has within easy reach, all that is desirable for the discerning traveller. It is 20 metres from the beach and 100 metres from shops, restaurants, tavern and a variety of water sports.
